Variety Hits 92.1 WBHC-FM offers CBS News, South Carolina News Network, weather from WJBF TV, Local High School Football and Baseball, Clemson Football and some Basketball, Variety music of 5 decades, The Daily Dose, Beach Music with Charlie Brown and Fessia john Hook! Great Gospel music and programs on Sunday.
It all started in September of 1957 when Joe Wilder and J.A. Gallimore put a 1kw AM station on in Hampton County. Bill Hollingsworth came to manage the station. Jim Harrelson, Jim Butts and Mike McCormick were hired as Managers. Carl A. Gross managed WBHC-AM in 1967 and in 1970 added WJBW-FM, a 3KW station at 103.1. Gross purchased the radio stations in 1983 and changed the call letters to WBHC-FM and simulcast the two radio stations.
In 1998 WBHC-FM moved to a new freguency 92.1 with a power increase. The radio station can be heard also in Allendale, Barnwell, Bamberg, Beaufort, Colleton, Jasper Counties as well as adjoining counties in George.
Around 2000, WBHC-AM became WHGS and started programming gospel music while WBHC-FM continued its Country Format!
In June 2004 Bocock Communications LLC. purchase the radio stations. WBHC-FM programming was changed over the years to "CRUISE 92", mix of adult hits to "ALL HITS" playing the top hits to VARIETY HITS" playing 5 decades of music.
WHGS-AM played middle of the road music then was changed to "NEWS TALK" and now to Older Country MUSIC called "KICKING COUNTRY"
